I just signed up for Dropbox.com and it’s a great service. It’s a free (2gb’s of storage) and a paid (plans start at $99 for 50gb’s / month, ouch!) service. It that allows you to have an online back up of your files and sync them up between computers or with the iphone app they made. It’s a nice tool if you work across multiple computers such as myself. I get done my daily work with the design firm I’m with and I stay after to get a few of my own projects done. Dropbox will allow me to leave my working projects in a Dropbox and make sure that each computer I work on will have the most current version. It beats carrying around a thumb drive (which I forget half the time) or emailing files all over the place.

Now I’m writing this post as a cheesy way of trying to get my disk space higher on Dropbox. If you use this link to the dropbox site and sign up both parties (the person signing up and the referrer) get an extra 250mb of space up to 3gb. Pretty good for a free service that works well.

Well I finally found the app that I really think works well for posting to all your audio, video, pictures, and txt to social networking websites ie. facebook, wordpress, myspace (ehh), twitter, flickr, and many, many more. Cellspin.net is a great app. that seems to work well but he only thing that I find as a downfall is that when it posts to my wordpress blog (here) it makes the image too large and it over laps my menu on the right hand side. So, I’ll be tweeking and testing so if you see a few weird posts then don’t yell at me. I’m just doing the normal trial and error testing. I recommend trying it out and seeing if it works for your needs. It seems very promising.

So I implemented a new photo plug-in for this blog. It works now that I’ve done some tweeking to the code (doesn’t it always work that way) and looks decent. Problem is that I overwrote the Style Sheet that does all the extra customizations that I did. So if your reading this right after the post then the page looks weird. But have no fear I’ve got a backup (I’m smart like that) and it’ll be fixed as soon as I’m back on my laptop which is later tonight. It’s a simple upload of a file I’ve already spent tons of time on so things should be back to normal shortly.

Keep an eye out for other updates coming soon. Those include a link page, a media page (view some video of me doing some random things), and a profile page (get the dirt on me, even though I don’t have any).

Check back soon. Updates are always happening.

First I’ve got a tip from my house-mate (a geek) about how to speed up Firefox. I was a little skeptical at first, I understand if you are too, but it really does speed up Firefox and is worth a try. I only suggest doing this if you are on a high speed connection but at the same time if you aren’t on a high speed connection by now then you should be figuring out how to get on one (and then do this).

1.Type “about:config” into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining

network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”

Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer.

Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0″.

This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.

Have fun with a faster Firefox and enjoy!
